This squad is a direct progression from the Orange hat squad.  The age profile of this squad should be between the ages of 7-10 years. 
At this stage the swimmer such a higher competence in the four strokes and turns.  He/she should have had an introduction into a competition.

Entry Criteria:

• Competed in a graded gala
• Swim 150m Frontcrawl with bilateral breathing and correct tumble turns
• Swim 150m Backstroke legally
• Swim 150m Breaststroke legally
• Swim 100m Frontcrawl and Backcrawl kick
• Swim 25m Butterfly – aiming towards legality

Squad Aims

• Progress towards White Hat squad entry criteria
• Attend two/three training session per week
• Should cover between 2000m and 2500m per session
• Develop and improve technique on the four strokes
• Develop skills for competitive starts and turns
• Increase levels of endurance and speed
• Increase knowledge of rules of the sport
• Accurate use of pace clock
• Learn basic stretching and flexibility work
